The White House, Washington

Hi, everyone —

This is the start of a national debate. Across the country, we’re having a serious discussion about how we can build a fair and effective immigration system that lives up to our heritage as a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants.

And we need your help to make sure that genuine, personal perspectives are part of the conversation. The truth is, that if we go back far enough, nearly every American story begins somewhere else — so often with ancestors setting out in search of a different life, carving out a future for their children in this place that all of us now call home.

We want to make sure that idea isn’t far from the minds of policymakers here in Washington as we work to reach an agreement to reform immigration.

To kick things off, one of the President’s senior advisors sat down to share his story with you.

Watch David Simas tell his American story, then tell us yours.

When Americans from all over the country — each with different backgrounds, each from different circumstances — all speak out with the same voice, it’s powerful in a way that’s hard to ignore. We’ve seen it again and again, in debate after debate.

And this is the kind of issue where putting a face on the push for reform takes an abstract concept and makes it real. So share your American stories with us, and we’ll put them to use.

We’ll publish them on the White House website. We’ll share them on Facebook and Twitter. We’ll do everything we can to make sure they’re part of the debate around immigration reform.

I am a proud American Citizen as 99% of all Puerto Ricans defend our American citizenship. 62% Puerto Ricans reside on a State. The 38% that live in Puerto Rico decided on November 6 2012 Plebiscite that we no longer supports the slavistic colonial satatus. 62% voted for Statehood.

The USA is loosing Hispanic America to Neo-Comunism (Chavism). The USA can not talk about democracy nor civil rightd having an unwilling colonial slavic territory in Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rico needs equality, we request a just and un-territorial process for admission or refusal of Statehood as soon as possible.

Puerto Rico State can reunify All Americas for the benefit for all, and to create a motive for the revival, revigorization and revitalization of the USA in the New Globalized World.

If the USA will provide equality to 11 Million ilegal inmigrants, Congress and White House should provide equality to Puerto Ricans  residing in the Island also.

Thank You,

Francisco R. Gonzalez 787-378-1487

I fully support immigration reform.
Here, in short, is my American story. I am a an American citizen by birth in the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico. Just as nearly 4 million other citizens residents of this political colony, we do not share the same civil rights as the residents  of the states. Last November the people voted clearly to end this state of affairs which the federal government has maintained for too long. Puerto Rico has been a U.S. possession since 1898 and persons born here have been U.S. citizens since 1917 – second class citizenship, that is.
It is time that you heed our call and do your part to end this state of affairs which not only hinders our economic development as found by the White House Task Force on Puerto Rico’s political Status, but is indignant for both the nation and its citizens residing in this territory.
Thank you.
